T U Endorsed Guide Works Thanksgiving Snowstorm - Brownies For Dessert

Beginner fly fisherman and guided client for the day Tom Mitchell called me and asked me to guide him during Wednesday's snowstorm on 11/27. As a die hard fly fisherman and foul weather enthusiast, I set out to guide Tom on a local Lake Ontario tributary and found post spawn brown trout in great numbers ready to chomp on streamers. These big fish were hungry for streamers in purple or olive colors and took both colors readily. Tom's Thanksgiving was complete with an offering of  "brownies for dessert".

A Reservoir Can Make A Difference

This nice brown trout was caught at Burt Dam last weekend. This time of year when the water levels are low you need to find tributaries with a good water flow rates (cfs) and fish stocking rates. A reservoir like Burt Dam, Oak Orchard Creek, and the Salmon River can provide good water flow and increased oxygen levels when air temperatures are too warm and water is slow to move.
So,.... get on your horse and ride! Drive to one of these areas and cast a Wild Water Fly Rod for some of these big brutes.
